Mission

Pageant Preparation

"While I had heard of the reputation of the Burt Wood School, and watched the amazing performances of Burt Wood students for years, I had not taken advantage of the schools' programs until this year as I assumed I needed to be an actress or a singer (which unfortunately I am not)! I learned, however, that in addition to being an amazing acting and vocal coach, Lorna ran an excellent program designed to prepare students for state and national level pageant
interviews.

The time I have spent with Lorna this year has been invaluable to
me. She has helped me with my poise, my stage presence, and especially my interview skills. While I held the title of Miss Massachusetts Outstanding Teen in 2008, I was still new to pageants. With Lorna's help I was able, at age 18, to win a local pageant and go on to win the Preliminary Swimsuit Award, the Miss America's Community Service Award, and to place 1st runner up at the 2010 Miss Massachusetts Pageant.

I could not have done it without her help! In addition to preparing me to succeed at Miss Massachusetts the lessons in public speaking she has given me will be invaluable to me in my future career as a broadcast journalist. Lorna was also instrumental in landing me the role of a lifetime as a travel host for a reality travel series which filmed for two weeks in Europe this summer. I cannot say enough about the caliber of the school and particularly of its owner Miss Lorna Brunelle. I hope to have the opportunity to continue to work with her in the future and to continue to learn from her experience."

Thank You Lorna!
Taylor Kinzler

Miss Massachusetts 2011 Molly Whalen had a fantastic time at Miss America! She was awarded $3000, received some beautiful outfits and gifts from the sponsors, saw Vegas, made new friends and had a fabulous time.Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlon removed 53 gem stones from her official Miss America crown and had 53 necklaces made with stones. She gave each 2012 contestant a necklace made with stones from her crown to remind each girl of the role they play in Miss America's efforts to inspire people in every state across the country. She beautifully explained that every contestant at Miss America this year was part of the crown. Simply put this is what Miss America is all about.

Miss Massachusetts 2009, Amanda Kelly to host charity event

As the state spokesperson for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and state Ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network, Amanda has created an organization to service both important causes that support children with life-threatening illnesses. The funds raised from this event will benefit children in both the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the Children's Miracle Network of Massachusetts. Together, guests at the event can be a beacon of light and hope for children who are facing a very dark prognosis. The magical evening includes a cocktail hour with a cash bar provided by The Bartending Services of New England, LLC., delicious Outback Steak House appetizers, tempting silent and live auction items and raffle gifts that are sure to be on everyone's holiday season wish list.

The main event is a fashion show featuring state title holders in the Miss America system. Models will be wearing the pauche couture of The Crowning Touch. Rock band Van Buren will play live music as the models parade the hottest trends. Join Miss Massachusetts 2009 Amanda Kelly for a night that will make children's dreams come true.  Anyone who believes in the healing power of a wish can help a child and is urged to attend.
